Many are the plans...

Happy March! Sunny days and blooming plants are a welcome sight after another long, grey winter here in Zagreb. New life abounds in the nature around us, but also in our home with our sweet boy who is nearly two months old! We are adjusting well to being a family of 5. When people here ask what the girls think of Silas, I say they are “mamice”.  That Croatian word means “little mommies”. Their mothering approach may be a bit like that of feral cats, but nonetheless, they want to love on and care for their brother.

Newness is also a theme in our lives outside of the home. Jeremiah has returned to class for what we hope is the last semester of language school. I will soon resume learning with individual lessons and an online course. The kids and I are enjoying our new routine of walking and taking the bus to kindergarten in the mornings, and Jeremiah is involved with a new session of Alpha (an apologetics course) at our church. As the end of our language study approaches, we are praying about what will be next for our work here and what the next new season of life will look like for us.

The newness that is coming has caused us more urgency as we dream and pray about the future. I was sharing with my sister about these dreams, and despite the weightiness of some of them, I shared with her the confidence and joy that I have in the Lord because of His steadfast faithfulness. I was reminded of Proverbs 19:21 “Many are the plans in a person’s heart, but it is the Lord’s purpose that prevails”. Whatever is in store for our family in this new spring season, and in the next season of life, we pray for God’s wisdom and that we would walk in His Spirit.

We ask that you pray with us for national partners that would be ready and excited to take steps towards planting a new church. We are praying that God will make His will clear to us by having Croatian church leaders ask us explicitly to join in their work.  Please also pray that we would remain content and diligent in our current work of language study and serving at church.

Great job again this month. Looking forward to seeing you all in July and spending time sharing in the work your team is doing. Not too mention seeing you and Jeremiah, and the great grand babies. We were praying, we are praying, and we will always be praying for you all, and your team.

How then will they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in him of whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without someone preaching?
