The Climate in Croatia...

As we celebrate 6 months of living in Croatia, we are beginning to understand the climate in Croatia. While we have lived through Spring, Summer, and- I have to say I’m welcoming the Autumn weather-here in our new home, this post is not about the temperatures outside. Now that we know where we like to buy groceries, how to navigate the bus and tram lines, and we can order coffee without using English, we are starting to notice more and ask questions about the spiritual climate here in our city. As with any place, the spiritual climate is impacted by the political, economic, social, and yes, the “temperature outside” climates.
We wanted to share some highs, lows, favorites, and shocking moments about our time in-country so far. We hope that this will begin to give you an idea of what the climate is like here in Zagreb, and we had more to say than I’m sure you’d care to read.

Also, I wanted to share some photos I’ve taken around the city that more directly represent the spiritual climate here. As you reflect on these photos, I think the most important lens to use is that most Croatians- considering the resounding Catholicism- do not see God as directly accessible. Most of their beliefs revolve around the fact that they don’t think that they can have a direct personal relationship with God. Enjoy for now, and I’ll share more next month!
Prayer Needs for September:
1-9: We are all adjusting to a new schedule! The girls have stared daycare for the first time, and Anna and Jeremiah are back in the class room together as students. (Fun note: we had Spanish class together in high school 10 years ago, so this is fun flash back for us.)
10-16: Language! As we go into the second week of our language intensive, our minds are going to be more than tired. Please pray that we would understand the concepts and retain the information.
17-23: Our local church. We are working alongside dear brothers and sisters to get an International Ministry off the ground and recruit more helpers! Please pray that God would put it on people's hearts to serve.
24-30: As we enjoy a family vacation, please pray that we would be refreshed and ready to dive into the fall semester.

Just watched the video and so excited to hear about all you are doing. I’ve been thinking and praying for you guys and what our WMU at Brodhead Baptist Church could do. Will look for your October post. Hope your vacation was good. Love how God is blessing in so many ways!

How then will they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in him of whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without someone preaching?
